About Our Team

My journey began with the unfortunate loss of a friend due to drug overdose. Witnessing firsthand the devastating impact and widespread lack of awareness, I felt compelled to take action. Motivated by the belief that every life is valuable and can be saved from the dangers of drug abuse, Pouyan and I co-founded DAA. We strive to make a difference, advocating for life and a healthy future for all by educating, supporting, and communicating with others to fight against drug abuse.

As the co-founder and president of DAA, I am deeply committed to raising awareness about the critical issue of drug abuse. My academic background in medical science and pharmacology has been fundamental in shaping the club's approach to this complex subject. In my role, I strive to create a dynamic and supportive environment where students can engage with and understand the impacts of drug abuse on both health and society. My goal is to build a more informed and empathetic community, capable of confronting the challenges of drug abuse. Through the DAA club, I aim not just to educate, but to inspire change and offer hope to those affected.

I joined this club to outreach to the drug-impacted population in hopes to develop empathy and understanding of their lives and struggles. I am a part of this mission to connect victims and people who have resources to offer. A fun fact about me is that I fractured my left ankle twice!

I joined the Drug Abuse Awareness Club because I am deeply passionate about making a positive impact on our community and society as a whole. In my second year at Western, I witnessed an individual that overdosed on a particular substance while I stood across the other side of the road.  The sense of helplessness I felt as I could do nothing more than contact the authorities unsettled me.  This incident resonated deeply within me, compelling me to take a proactive stance in addressing the critical issue of drug abuse and its potentially life-altering consequences. Also, here's a fun fact about me: I have watched The Office 4 times so far!

I have personally seen the effects of drug abuse take over the lives of those around me and would like to spread prevention awareness around the topic. This concern has become so normalized in university culture due to a lack of education on the topic - I would love to be a part of educating on the harm while also providing support and resources for those struggling.  My fun fact is that I'm a triplet!

I grew up in London and I've seen the impact of addiction and drug use on many people in the city. I want to help those in the London community who are struggling with addiction and bring attention to this important issue. A fun fact about me is that I have a 1200 day streak on Duolingo for French!
